Fir Grove Mountain is located on the main Bennett Mountain Hills Crest between Peak 6491 and Peak 5875. USGS Fir Grove Mountain

Access

From its junction with ID-46, drive west on the City of Rocks Road. At 4.9 miles, go left to stay on the City of Rocks Road. At 5.8 miles, go right onto Davis Mountain Road. At 7.5 miles, go right at an unsigned junction onto a rougher jeep road. At 7.9 miles, you will reach a saddle at 6,000 feet on the west side of the peak. Park here if you managed to get this far. This is a very rough 4WD road.

West Ridge, Class 2

From the saddle, climb east up the ridge to the top.

South Face/Southeast Shoulder, Class 2 by Livingston Douglas 

Access

From its junction with ID-46, drive west on the City of Rocks Road. At 4.9 miles, go left to stay on City of Rocks Road. At 5.8 miles, go right onto Davis Mountain Road. At 7.5 miles, go right at an unsigned junction onto a rougher jeep road. At 7.6 miles, park/camp in a grassy area alongside the road. The elevation here is 5,700 feet. This grassy area sits at the base of the south face of Fir Grove Mountain. The summit is only ½ mile away.

The Climb

From the grassy pullout area, scramble northwest then north up a sagebrush slope to reach the southeast shoulder. Follow the easy shoulder northwest to the tilted summit plateau. Once on the plateau, scramble north across easy scrub for 0.2 mile to reach the rocky summit. The summit high point is a narrow section of east-to-west ridge crest. There is a large cairn on the summit but I was unable to locate the USGS Willow benchmark that is supposed to be up here. Perhaps it is buried underneath the large talus of the summit cairn.
