Peak 3668 is located at the confluence of the South Fork and North Fork Payette River near Banks, Idaho. It is the southwestern point of the Salmon River Mountains and the North Fork Range. USGS Banks
Access
The Banks/Lowman Highway at its junction with of ID-55. Park in a pullout on the South Side of the highway just east of the junction.
Southwest Ridge, Class 2
I traversed Peak 3668 on the way to Garden Peak. From the parking area, carefully cross ID-17 and climb the steep Southwest Ridge to the summit. The descent off the peak’s Northwest Ridge crosses a surprising number of rocky obstacles and verges on Class 4 climbing. See John Platt’s trip report linked below.
