Elevation: 5,591 ft
Prominence: 291
This peak is not in the book.
Peak 5591 sits just south of Federal Butte and southwest of Murphy, Idaho. The peak can be approached from Murphy via the Silver City Road, but it is best accessed from the west via Moores Creek. I climbed Peak 5591 from Moores Creek in conjunction with a climb of Federal Butte. See the Federal Butte Page for additional access information. USGS Reynolds
We hiked from the road at roughly 4,000 feet to the saddle between Federal Butte and Peak 5591. After making an ascent of Federal Butte, I returned to the saddle and climbed the peak’s steep North Ridge, which tops out east of the summit. I descend via a more direct line back to the road. The total hike was just under 5 miles with 2,100 feet of elevation gain. Class 2
