Elevation: 5,740 ft
Prominence: 600
This peak is not in the book.
Peak 5740 is located due west of Little Camas Reservoir and just north of ID-20 where the highway crosses Windy Gap. The nearly treeless peak is an easy ascent from Windy Gap. You will find a pullout on the north side of the highway just east of the top of the pass. A road accesses private property from this pullout. Don’t block the road. Walk down the edge of the highway until you see a fence line running up the South Ridge. This fence is the boundary for private land to the west and Forest Service land to the east. Start up at this point and cross the highway fence. The fence is built so that the wire can be taken down in the winter. You can easily cross it. USGS Anderson Ranch Dam
Once across the fence, follow the ridge to the summit. The fence ends shortly at a tree. I recommend taking a map that shows the public and private land with you so that you can stay legal. It’s just under 1 mile to the summit with 800 feet of elevation gain. Class 2.
