Elevation: 6,682 ft
Prominence: 422
This peak is not in the book. It is located due west of ID-21 where the highway crosses Beaver Creek Summit.
Peak 6682/Stargaze Point is located northeast of Pilot Peak in the Boise Mountains. I skied Stargaze Point with Brian Wright in February 2001. While not a tall or imposing summit, the skiing was good through mixed areas of forest, meadow, and burned forest.
Our route covered 2.2 miles from the road to the summit. At the time, we were trailblazers when we visited this [then unknown] summit. Since our ascent, the peak has been included in the Idaho Park and Ski System. Now there is a trail all the way to the summit and a nearby yurt. I have included a link below to the Parks and Recreation webpage that covers the peak. I have another link to Dan Robbins’ trip report on a Summer climb of the peak. The map below shows the route as 1.4 miles round trip. USGS Pine Flat
