Peak 8041 is one of two peaks sitting east of Lick Creek Summit. Like many Lick Creek Range summits it is capped with a granite summit block. It can be ascended with less than 1,200 feet of elevation gain. The second peak is Peak 7889 (Flying Fish Peak). USGS Box Lake
Access
Lick Creek Summit is reached via FH-48 [(B)(3) on Page 136]. Park in the large parking lot on the east side of Lick Creek Summit.
North Ridge, Class 3
From your parking spot climb east up a broad rib to the peak’s North Ridge. to the ridge crest. Turn right and follow the ridge to the summit block. Ascend the summit block on its north side. John Platt reports “This is a hike except for the one move to the top. Which has a bomber handhold and a pretty good foothold to gain the ‘au cheval’ summit.” See the Flying Fish Peak for additional details.
