This peak is not in the book. Published December 2020

Peak 8346 is located in the Western Centennials. It sits on a ridgeline that extends from Lookout Point to Lone Pine Pass. It is a rather unimpressive hump considering that Point 8521 (a higher hump that is an unranked point) is just to its east. All of that said, Peak 8346 is a soft-ranked summit and is a worthy objective if you are climbing Lookout Point from Lone Pine Pass. It is easily reached from FST-005, an ATV trail/road that goes from Lone Pine Pass to the upper reaches of Lookout Point. USGS Lookout Point

Access

Same as for Peak 8382. This is the third leg of a 3-peak journey that includes Peak 8382, Lookout Point, and Peak 8346.

Northeast Face, Class 2

The Climb

From the 8,060-foot connecting saddle with Lookout Point, bushwhack west across the tall grass and veg (and battle with some short sections of thick forest/blowdown) to intersect FST-005 in an open meadow on the east side of Peak 8346. Follow FST-005 for about ¼ mile to reach the northeast face of Peak 8346. Once FST-005 enters the forest, leave it and bushwhack southwest through thick pine forest. Exit the forest and scramble up steep talus/scree (with some veg thrown in for good measure) to reach the open summit of Peak 8346. There is a nearby cairn east of the high point, so I built a summit cairn on the high point. The summit offers expansive views in all directions.
