Peak 8832 sits above Trail Creek Summit. It is most easily climbed via its south ridge from the parking area on Trail Creek Summit. Peak 8832 can also be climbed via its northeast ridge from the nearby Park Creek Campground. This peak has a surprising 936 feet of prominence and is worth of the short scramble required to reach the airy summit perch. USGS Rock Roll Canyon

The Climb

From the parking area, walk briefly south on Trail Creek Road and cross a cattle guard. There is a road closure gate here and a sign for the Sawtooth National Forest. Find an old 2-track road just south of the cattle guard. Follow this 2-track road west through the forest to a weather station/Snotel site. Bushwhack a short distance from the weather station through the pine forest up onto the rocky toe of the south ridge.

Scramble right/north up the [initially] rocky ridge crest to reach a pine forest. There is one minor 20-foot ridge hump to downclimb in this forested section of the ridge. Midway up, the ridge bends left-ish/northwest and is a steep scrub-bashing endeavor. Higher up, the ridge becomes a mix of scattered ridge pines and thick scrub. A final push up open scree and other rock puts you on the summit perch. The summit of Peak 8832 has a tall cairn at the north end of the open ridgeline.
