This peak is not in the book. This bump, not to be confused with nearby Pickles Butte, is on private property. Published November 2022
Pickle Butte sits alongside ID-55 at a sharp turn just east of Marsing, Idaho. This peak is on private property but there is no signage or fencing prohibiting entry. But this is Idaho and it is still necessary to get permission to hike this minor butte. Please note that this butte should not be confused with Pickles Butte (3,084 feet) which is only a few miles away to the southeast. USGS Marsing
Access
From the junction of ID-55 and Marsing Road just east of Marsing, drive south on Marsing Road for a short distance to a sharp left/east bend in the road. Park in a pullout here (2,255 feet).
Northeast Slope, Class 2
The Climb
From the small pullout on ID-55, scramble up a mix of rock, gravel, and brush to quickly reach the open, gravel summit of Pickle Butte. There is no summit cairn.
