Red Horse Mountain sits south of Beauty Saddle and at the headwaters of Blue Lake Creek in the Coeur d’Alene Mountains. It is located southeast of Mount Coeur d’Alene. Red Horse Mountain has an ATV trail that leads to the summit from FSR-439. USGS Mount Coeur d’Alene

Access
From the south side of Exit 28 on I-90, drive west then south on [signed] FSR-614 for 10.6 miles to an unsigned 3-way road junction. Go straight onto the middle road (FSR-439) and drive 1.1 miles to a sharp left/south turn in the road and an unsigned junction with an ATV road. Park here (3,920 feet; 47⁰33’17”N, 116⁰38’17”W).
North Ridge, Class 1
The Climb
From the road junction, hike south then east up the narrow ATV road to the open summit. The final section of the road bends sharply right/southwest to climb the northeast ridge to the top. There is no benchmark. There was no summit cairn so I built a modest one.
