Access
Access this peak from Troy, Montana and US-2. From Troy, follow Callahan Creek Road/FS-427 west for 12.0 miles to the trailhead for FST-407 (3,480 feet). The Forest Service states: “Trailhead is on the right and can be hard to find – look for tread on upslope of road.”
FST-407, Class 1+
This trail ascends the peak’s South Ridge, climbing over Point 6647 along the way. The most recent information I have found (2014) on this trail probably justifies calling an ascent up this trail as Class 2. Be prepared for cross-country travel. The round-trip distance is over 8.0 miles and requires 3,200 feet of elevation gain.
