Salmon Mountain is the tallest summit along the Magruder Corridor. The fire lookout on the summit is staffed during the summer. Views from the summit are nearly endless. The peak has two impressive faces (Northeast and South) that tower over mountain lakes. USGS Stripe Mountain

Salmon Mountain Trail, Class 1
The excellent Salmon Mountain Trail/FST-705, leads to the summit in 1.2 miles with 672 feet of elevation gain. Access the trailhead 47.5 miles east of the western terminus of the Magruder Corridor.

The lookout is manned by a team of volunteers. Susan was the volunteer on duty when I arrived. She has taken turns on the lookout since 1985.
