Updated Access
From Boise, take ID-21 toward Idaho City and Lowman. Just before Mile Point 57, take the Middle Fork Boise River Road/FS-268 east for 38.0 miles. Turn left onto FS-327 and drive north to FSR-251 (this road is gated but open from June 15 to Sept 15). Follow this difficult 4WD road to the summit. The Forest Service reports “This road is strictly 4×4 vehicle or smaller. Long wheel-based vehicles will have difficult time navigating through the sharp switchbacks. Also, pull-outs are few and far between so meeting oncoming vehicles requires much consideration and probably backing. This road is not for the faint of heart.”
