Wilson Peak and nearby Soldier Cap are great Spring hikes. Wilson Peak’s summit is accessed by a 4WD road that is used to service the communications equipment on its summit. The views from the summit are massive. The road is a good hiking trail and would also work for mountain bikers looking for a strenuous climb. If you climb the peak from the junction of the Wilson Creek Road and the Wilson Peak Road, you will travel 2.5 miles with a 950 feet of elevation gain. The peak is open, treeless country and for those looking for a longer climb, there are several places along Wilson Creek Road that will work as starting points. Class 1 via the road and Class 2 for other lines. USGS Wilson Peak
