Scot spent his college years as a climbing instructor, taking groups to many of the main sites in North America. After visiting peaks and walls in the Alps, Andes, and Australia, he put away his rope when his son was born. Since then, he’s done numerous solo snow climbs and scrambles up peaks in each of Idaho’s mountain ranges and in neighboring states. As a professor at Idaho State University in Pocatello, he spent his weekend mornings exploring off trail in the Portneuf and Bannock Ranges. He also enjoys sea kayaking and has done more than 80 solo backpacking trips throughout the West. Scott is the author of An Alpinist Guide to Pocatello – Snow Climbs and Scrambles.
